While world leaders were fighting in Copenhagen on possibly suppressing the global warming, chill air was already at the door of my company with a sign reads: "Sorry, 2010 is surely chilly, if not freezing".
Merely 2 days before the New Year’s Day, a letter was delivered to some of the employees including myself to inform us that we’re now officially at the manager’s level and will get more incentive, in the expense of losing our oncall pays. The catch here is that there could well be no incentive paying out at all in the coming year due to the under-expectation performance of the company — clearly one of the cost -cut tricks.
The thing did not really come as a total surprise, honestly speaking, as cut was already done a few times in different ways in the second half of 2009, though everyone was still hoping for the best.
2009 will be remembered as a good year, but I sincerely hope that it is not the final one and that another good year will come soon.
