Something big may take place at TMX

Will wait and see.

Update No. 1: A merger is reported between TMX (Toronto/Montreal Exchange) and LSE (London Stock Exchange). The new company will have dual headquarters, one in Toronto and the other in London. The CEO of LSE will resume the same role while Tom Kloet, CEO of TMX will be the new president.

Update No. 2: Already the top two in energy and mining listings, the merger will create the world’s single biggest resource exchange company, with a combined market value of more than US$6 billion.

Update No. 3: It seems a “historical day”, as is put by Tom Kloet in todays employee meeting. Never before did so many people attend a meeting like today. All of the people seem happy for some possible new opportunities from this “merger of equal”.

Update No. 4: Sadly the latest report is that the provincial government of Ontario will block this merger, and the federal government will need to review if they want to give a red-light to the deal as well.

OK, that will be the end of my series of updates.
