回家后给女儿看,她说“For $4.99, it is not too bad”。

The End. 🙂

    T-Fal AntiFry

Have a question for you, which is related to photography. Do you use a UV filter to protect your lens?

    • frankxue3251 says:

Certainly! I bought high end uv filters for both my good lenses: B+W Multi-Resiatant Coating clear UV filters. Circular polarizer is another kind of filter you may want to think about.

      • 木钉 says:

I spent whole day yesterday doing research on these staff.
I found two UV filters for my lens:
        1) B+ W 67mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter ($39.90)
        2) B+W 67mm XS-Pro UV MRC-Nano 010M Filter ($53.30)
Which type do you have? My lens is about $500, and I want something nice but not overkill. Is #2 overkill?
Yes, I also thought about getting a circular polarizing filter (CPF) for outdoor shooting, later not now. Can you tell me what kind of CPF you have for my reference?
I also want to get an extra battery. Are third-party batteries as good as the original ones? Is it a good idea to just get a third-party one for lower price?

      • frankxue3251 says:

I guess it depends on what you plan to do in a “long run”. I started from buying decent lenses, led by an photography-enthusiastic co-worker. And for the same reason, I went directly to the good B+W filters.

But a US$500 lens cannot be bad, and therefore a better filter is worthwhile, not to mention the price difference is merely US$15-. Another thing to take into account is that you may be able to continually use the filter when you buy a even better 67mm lens in the future .

On the CPF side, I have 2 B+W CPFs as well, one for each lens( 77mm and 67mm)

Got it. Thank you for your suggestion on lens filters.
How about batteries? Original battery vs. third-party battery, I just know the original one is pricey, but don’t know the difference on their battery life and performance. Between the following two, I will probably go for the original one for feeling safe. But can you explain to me whether the third-party one is actually as good as the original one or less reliable than the original one based on their physical parameters such as V, mAh, and Wh? Sorry, I barely passed the exams on physics when I was in high school. 🙂
        1) Original: Nikon EN-EL14A Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery (7.2V, 1230mAh, 8.9Wh) – $39.95
        2) Third-party: Watson EN-EL14A Lithium-Ion Battery (7.2V, 1150mAh, 8.28Wh) – $29.95

      • frankxue3251 says:

A second battery (also from Canon) was bought together with my DSLR, as a backup to the original battery in the pack. My experience tells me that a second is always a second — clearly inferior to the original one. If both money and enthusiasm are available for me to buy a new camera, my choice will be a battery grip bundled with the camera. That will almost surely save me from any embarrassment of running out of battery at places for good photos. I have no experience using 3rd party products (yet), and can not give any opinions about them.

Thank you for sharing your opinion.

No problem, Muding. As a matter of fact my interests in photography is boosted by our correspondences, in a way.
